Holds/tanks Cleanliness Inspection (Load compartments inspection)
A comprehensive visual inspection of the inner surfaces of holds and hatch covers is conducted prior to loading, with the aim of assessing their suitability for transporting the intended cargo in compliance with globally recognized cargo transportation standards. Additionally, any specific cleanliness criteria outlined by the customer are also considered. Each hold undergoes an individual inspection, and the attending surveyor either approves or rejects it. This inspection is accompanied by relevant certificates and photographic documentation.
Supervision of cargo operations
We provide round-the-clock supervision of cargo operations, meticulously documenting any interruptions and rejecting cargo that deviates from the Principal’s instructions, contractual specifications, or mutually agreed quality standards. Our inspection process is complemented by daily and comprehensive reports, complete with accompanying photographs.
Cargo compartment cleaning before/after loading
This inspection covers several important stages: pre-loading cleaning, where a thorough cleaning is carried out before loading the cargo into the cargo compartment, including the removal of the remnants of previous cargo, dust, dirt and other contaminants; post-loading cleaning, carried out after unloading the cargo to prepare the cargo compartment for the next stage of transportation; quality control, within which quality control of cleaning in accordance with established standards and customer requirements; risk reduction, where cleaning cargo compartments helps to reduce the risk of contamination and contamination of goods during transportation, especially important for goods requiring high purity, such as food and pharmaceutical products; and efficiency improvement, where cleaning before and after loading contributes to more efficient loading and unloading of cargo compartments, which can reduce the downtime of vehicles and speed up the delivery of goods.
Superintendence of Dry Bulk Cargo
We provide continuous attendance throughout the entire process of loading or discharging grains, oilseeds, and pulses, ensuring that the product’s weight and contractual quality are upheld at every stage. Any deviations from the standard are thoroughly examined and documented. Our surveyors possess extensive expertise in conducting such inspections in accordance with GAFTA rules.
Hatch covers watertightness test (Hose test/ultrasonic test)
This procedure is employed to confirm the watertight integrity of a ship’s hatch seals and covers, typically conducted prior to the commencement of loading. During the test, water or chalk is vigorously sprayed across all the junctions of the hatch covers and the areas with sealing mechanisms. The process typically lasts about half an hour, after which the hatch covers are opened, and the empty holds are inspected for any signs of water penetration. Subsequently, the surveyor assesses whether the vessel is suitable for loading or should be rejected. This test is frequently conducted in conjunction with an evaluation of the vessel’s technical condition.
Draft Survey
We employ a method for determining the quantity of bulk cargo by observing the draft marks of a vessel both before and after the loading or discharge process. This approach involves complex calculations that consider essential factors, such as the ship’s hydrostatic data, sea water density, changes in ballast quantity between the initial and final draft readings, and prevailing sea conditions, including pitch and swell, among other variables. Our survey services encompass continuous monitoring throughout all stages of the loading and discharge operations, commencing with the initial draft survey and concluding with the final draft survey. We are also ready to arrange intermediate draught surveys upon client request. Our surveys adhere to the guidelines and regulations established by the U.N./ECE Uniform Code of Standards and Procedures for the Performance of Draught Surveys. We utilize internationally recognized techniques and state-of-the-art equipment to measure the necessary parameters, ensuring precise results. The comprehensive report includes draft calculations and a tank sounding report for ballast, fresh water, or fuel tanks, along with the option for a Letter of Reserve if needed.
Sealing/unsealing cargo compartments
We secure and remove seals from all access points to a vessel’s cargo compartments to prevent unauthorized entry. This process is followed by the issuance of a ‘Hold Closure Seal Certificate,’ which provides a detailed account of the location of each seal.
Pre-loading Cargo Survey
We conduct inspections to assess the overall condition of different types of cargo, both before and during the loading process. During these inspections, we meticulously note any visible damages, physical defects, and structural abnormalities in the goods. The results of our assessments are then officially endorsed by the vessel’s Master and recorded in Bills of Lading or Mate’s Receipts. Our survey service includes the provision of preliminary and final reports, along with accompanying photographs.
On/Off-hire bunker and condition survey
We conduct an assessment of the existing state of cargo holds, hatches, loading equipment, and more before any transfer of ownership or time charter arrangements. The results are consolidated into a comprehensive Final Report, complete with accompanying photographs, which can be conveniently delivered via email or through DHL Express.
Additionally, the bunker survey of a vessel is frequently conducted concurrently with the on/off-hire survey. This survey is accompanied by a Bunker Survey Certificate, which is available for delivery via email or by DHL Express.
Bunkering control inspection
This inspection includes several important steps: assessment of fuel quality, including analysis of samples to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards, as well as checking viscosity, density, sulfur content, humidity and other characteristics. We also make accurate measurements of the volume of refueled fuel, which allows you to control fuel consumption and prevent losses or overspending. Our specialists closely monitor the bunkering process, ensuring its compliance with established standards and requirements. Finally, we provide detailed inspection reports, including fuel quality analysis and accurate measurements, as well as recommendations for improving the bunkering process or eliminating identified problems.
Sampling of fuel
The process involves ascertaining the quantity of all bunkers on board at the time of the survey through the following steps: initially measuring the tanks on both the bunker tanker and the receiving vessel before delivery, conducting proper fuel sampling procedures, taking subsequent tank measurements on both the bunker tanker and receiving vessel after delivery, documenting the sampling process with photographs, recalculating the delivered and received quantities based on tested density, and ultimately, delivering a comprehensive report summarizing the survey findings.
Ullage/sounding calculations
We perform surveys to ascertain the volume of liquid cargo held within the vessel’s tanks. This survey is followed by a detailed report containing all the essential calculations and a Certificate of Quantity, which can be conveniently delivered either via email or through DHL Express.
Pre-purchase survey
Our company specializes in high-quality Pre-purchase survey inspections, providing a range of services that include technical condition assessments, covering materials, HVAC systems, electrical systems, and more. We excel in identifying hidden defects that might have otherwise gone unnoticed, ensuring thorough evaluations. Additionally, our team offers maintenance and repair recommendations, delivering detailed guidance to enhance safety and reliability. Our services include comprehensive reports and expert consultations, and all our inspections are carried out in full compliance with legal standards and regulations, ensuring informed purchasing decisions for our clients.
Tally
Monitoring the quantity of cargo items during the loading or unloading process is facilitated with the assistance of daily tally reports and a Final Tally Report. Additionally, we offer services for distinguishing cargo items through paint separation or marking during the loading or unloading procedures. If needed, we can also provide weather condition monitoring to ensure the cargo remains unaffected by adverse weather conditions during the loading process.
